The Rescue Training School

The Home Front Command founded and maintains the Rescue Training School (at Training Camp 16).

The staff of instructors at the school oversee many forms of training and fill a variety of other functions including:

  • Training and instruction: At the school, soldiers are trained and instructed in the following special courses:

-          rescue and ABC (atomic, biological, chemical) events

-          medicine

-          fire fighting

-          security

-          units specializing in unconventional events

  • Rescue: How to manage mass disasters in Israel and around the world, with emphasis on rescue.
  • Rapid response: The faculty at the school is the first team called for immediate response to emergency situations and rescue in Israel and around the world.

Additionally, at Training Camp 16, special teams train to be the first to breach the scene of the event and to scan it, in order to allow convenient and safe passage to forces operating in the area. These teams were activated for the first time in Operation Defensive Shield (2002).
