The Israeli National Search, Rescue and Civil Defense School
BAHAD ("training base") 16 is the Israeli
National Search, Rescue and Civil Defense School.
BAHAD 16 provides specialized instruction and training for thousands of regular and reserve IDF troops every year.
In addition, all the Home Front Command units train and practice their skills at the base.
BAHAD 16 remains on 24-hour SAR/NBC response alert, 365 days a year.
BAHAD 16 troops have participated in dozens of SAR actions in Israel and in the world, using their dedicated life-saving response skills.
Owing to its accumulated specialized knowledge and experience, BAHAD 16 trains SAR units from all over the world.
BAHAD 16 participates in the international cooperative effort by providing SAR instruction, training and readiness maintenance for many countries in the world.
BAHAD 16 is in constant collaboration with other emergency and SAR organizations in Israel: the Israel Police, Magen David Adom ambulance service, Fire Brigade and other assistance organizations.
BAHAD 16 training infrastructure is one of the best and most advanced in the IDF, and is constantly improved and developed to answer the needs of its trainees.
BAHAD 16 wears four hats:
- Practice base
- Training and instruction base
- All-IDF alert response unit
- Basic training base
BAHAD 16 specialty content areas:
- Search and rescue
- NBS defense and protection
- Population and civil defense
- Operations and senior leaders' training
- Medicine
BAHAD 16 is located within the Zrifin base in Rishon-LeZion, and is primarily intended to train regular IDF troops.
