How to Act in an Emergency

National Home Front Drill – Home Front Command Ins

A home front drill will be conducted for the third consecutive year between the May 31 and the June 4, 2009. As part of the drill, the National Emergency Authority, the Home Front Command, the Israeli police, Magen David Adom, the Fire Department, the government ministries and the local authorities will practice servicing the civilian home front through various emergency scenarios.

On Tuesday, June 2, at precisely 11:00 am, a drill alarm will be sounded throughout Israel. When the alarm sounds, all Israeli residents are requested to drill going into their pre - selected protected space, based on the entry time provided, at home, at work, or in any other building in which they are staying.

Traffic – including buses and private cars – will continue as usual throughout the drill, even during the alarm.

All essential services, including hospitals, will continue as usual throughout all days of the drill.

The drill will be conducted as a continuation of the annual informational campaign that was aired in April 2009: “To be Protected – Right on Time”. It is an opportunity to prepare the public and the authorities for emergencies which may occur without enough preparation time.

Additional information can be obtained through the Home Front Command’s national information center by dialing 1207.
